SanDisk claims legal victory

Flash memory maker SanDisk said Thursday that the Tokyo District Court has ruled in its favor, denying a petition filed by Mitsubishi Electric that sought an injunction to stop the sale of SanDisk's CompactFlash memory cards in Japan. Mitsubishi Electric filed a petition for a preliminary injunction with the Tokyo District Court last year against Sunnyvale, Calif.-based SanDisk regarding the sale of CompactFlash and PC cards, SanDisk said in a statement. According to SanDisk, Mitsubishi claimed that the cards infringed on three Mitsubishi patents in Japan. During litigation, Mitsubishi withdrew two of the Japanese patents from the litigation. The court rejected Mitsubishi's petition for a preliminary injunction for the third patent, SanDisk said.
