San Francisco: Public transit by cell phone?

One U.S. city is trying out a system that allows you to pay your fare by swiping a cell phone.

San Francisco is the first U.S. city to test a system that would allow passengers to pay for their subway trip by flashing their cell phone at an electronic reader. Already in use in places like Tokyo, it works by placing a "debit chip" inside the cell phone.
