Put your Samsung Galaxy Note 7 down and walk away.

That's pretty much the message from federal regulators, following about three dozen incidents where the phones either overheated or exploded. Samsung is working with the US government to recall the devices, and not a moment too soon. Problems with the phones keep cropping up, including a Note 7 bursting into flames in a little boy's hands this weekend.

For more information, here's the US Consumer Product Safety Commission's statement on the Note 7 from Friday, and here's Samsung's Note 7 exchange program information.

Also on this podcast, we talk about Tesla updating its Autopilot self-driving feature to improve safety, following a fatal crash a few months ago.

The 3:59 gives you bite-size news and analysis about the top stories of the day, brought to you by the CNET News team in New York and Producer Bryan VanGelder.
