Speaking at Wednesday's smart TV launch, Phil Newton, VP of Consumer Products, said that the Evolution Kit will cost "around AU$299".

He had previously told CNET Australia that the upgrade kits for the 2012 line-up will be available in May.

The Evolution Kit is a key strategy for Samsung's "Smart TV" range, allowing users to upgrade the hardware and image-processing software of their smart TVs.

When launched in 2012, the local price was initially mooted to be around AU$149. The kit features an A15 quad-core 1.35GHz processor that offers increased GPU speed and more memory.
