Samsung Semiconductor announced on Monday that it has begun mass production of double data rate (DDR) DRAM 2 chips. DDR DRAM 2 is a new, faster version of DDR DRAM memory that goes into today's personal computers. The Korean electronics giant has already shipped samples of 512MB chips to customers. Although production has begun, computers with DDR DRAM 2 memory won't start showing up in numbers until 2004.
