Samsung has unveiled a cell phone that supports multimedia service for third-generation networks.

Samsung is teaming up with Verizon Wireless--which will debut its V Cast multimedia service next month--to market its new SCH-a890 phone.

The phone, which has a 260,000-color display, offers a rotating 1.3-megapixel digital camera with features such as zoom, a self-timer and a flash.

The phone will support a range of multimedia applications, including video on demand. People will be able to watch video clips developed for the V Cast service by networks including Comedy Central, Fox, MTV and NBC.

Starting Tuesday, Verizon Wireless customers will be able to get the Samsung phone for $249 (after a $70 rebate) with a two-year agreement.
