We like the. We like it . But chuck it against the wall, or run it under the tap, and it'll quickly start to look less impressive. If you want a smart phone that can take a punch, you should keep an eye out for the Samsung Galaxy XCover.
This ruggedmobile packs all modern conveniences -- a 3.6-inch display, a 3.2-megapixel camera and Android 2.3 Gingerbread thrumming along under the bonnet.
On top of that, the screen is scratch resistant, and the phone is IP67 certified, which means it's protected against dreaded dust ingress, and will survive underwater at depths of up to 1 metre, for up to half an hour without kicking the bucket.
Sounds good, yes? Well, there's some bad news. Samsung has only confirmed the XCover in Germany, meaning it might not make it to the UK. We wouldn't be surprised if it turned up here though -- the, another mid-range rugged Android phone, seemed to fare pretty well.
We're keen on rugged phones. For one thing, it's not the end of the world if you drop them in the toilet, so long as you don't flush. And often it feels like devices such as theor are made of cobwebs and wishes, so it's refreshing to hold a mobile with less of a glass jaw.
