Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 demonstrated in weird official trailer

Samsung has released an official trailer for its upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet. The video shows off the new Android slate with the aid of an eerie female voice-over and chirpy electronic muzak.

The video shows off the tablet's incredibly slim (8.6mm) and ludicrously light (565g) frame, as well as Google's Honeycomb operating system and Samsung's own TouchWiz user-interface tweaks.

Usually our lips curl when we hear that a manufacturer has mucked about with Google's default Android interface, but we were actually very impressed with TouchWiz on the Galaxy S 2.

The 12-minute video also shows off some speedy browsing and impressive battery stats. We'd take everything with a pinch of salt until you read CNET UK's definitive review, but, if you're eagerly anticipating Samsung's attempt to take down Apple's iPad, feel free to hit 'play' and indulge your gadget lust.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is expected to hit UK shores on 4 August, although its progress could well be hindered -- Apple is making moves to have the sale of the tablet banned in the States.

Early reviews of the Tab 10.1 have been reasonably positive. Are you excited about this tablet, or do you prefer Apple's slender, app-packed iPad 2? Let us know in the comments or on our Facebook page. Now watch this video, and try not to dream of creepy robotic voice-overs tonight.
