Samsung Galaxy S5 gets circular icons in launch teaser

The Samsung Galaxy S5 wants to run circles around its smart phone rivals -- and this teaser image suggests circles could be part of a new-look interface for Samsung's hotly-anticipated new Android flagship.

Posted on Samsung's official blog, the new teaser for the S5's launch this month shows off nine circular icons, symbolising Speed, Outdoor, Curiosity, Fun, Social, Style, Privacy, Fitness and Life.

What could they mean? A new interface for the S5, based on these coloured circles?

The circles remind me of Meego, but we'll have to wait and see what the actual thing looks like -- and we don't have too long to wait. Samsung Unpacked takes place in just a couple of weeks, on 24 February.

In other Samsung news, a report from The Information suggests the Korean company is planning a new service called Context, which would collect information about what you do with you phone and share it with apps. If true, apps would have access to data from your phone's sensors and things you type even when you're not using that app.
