Jay-Z's new album Magna Carta Holy Grail will be released early and for free to 1 million Samsung Galaxy S4, S3 and Note 2 owners, in a multi-million dollar promotional deal announced last night.

If you're packing one of the flagship smart phones, you can download a free app from 24 June that'll unlock the long-player on 4 July -- three days before anyone else gets to hear it.

The offer was announced on US TV in an ad aired during the NBA basketball finals last night, and it's not immediately clear if the offer is global or US-only. I've asked Samsung for confirmation and will update when I hear back.

Even if it is available here in the UK, the S3 and S4 have sold more than 50 million phones between them, so you'll have to be quick to be in the first million downloaders.

Samsung is reportedly splashing out $5m on giving its customers something fresh to listen to, according to the Wall Street Journal. It's apparently part of a rumoured $20m partnership between the millionaire rapper-producer and the Korean mobile maker -- if true, by far the biggest sponsorship deal in tech history.

The app will also give lucky Galaxy owners an "unprecedented inside look into the album" along with "personal stories and inspiration", according to the album's official site.

Here's Mr Knowles-Carter and some close personal friends making some music and getting creative with their favourite Samsung products:

It's fair to say Samsung has more money than Jesus at this point, so it's pretty cool it's sharing the wealth with this glamorous giveaway. But as the dominant player in mobile making, is there anything else you'd rather it spent the money on?
