Samsung Galaxy S4 benchmarks hint at processor performance
Benchmark tests found online hint at the power of the hotly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S4.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is edging closer, and the latest hint at the power of this hotly anticipated smart phone behemoth has surfaced.
Performance tests for what appears to be the S4 have been unearthed online, revealing the phone's speed at processing tasks, and running the latest Android 4.2.1 software.
The numbers appeared on AnTuTu, a database of processor benchmark scores testing the performance of phones and tablets. A Korean phone called the SHV-E300S and a British phone called the GT-I9500 both showed up in the results.
Although it's not certain what kind of processor powers the S4, it could well be the recently announced Samsung Exynos 5 Octa, an eight-core chip that switches between four beefy high-speed cores and four slower cores that use less power for everyday tasks.
That way you get superb performance when playing fast-paced games, high-definition videos or conducting heavy multi-tasking, but without draining your battery.
The chip is set to be backed up by 2GB of RAM.
Previous rumours suggest the S4 could sport a 5-inch high-definition screen and 13-megapixel camera. We're expecting to see it in Spring. In the meantime the S3 and its predecessors continue to rack up impressive sales, with the S family of phones selling over 100 million.
