Watch a Samsung Note 7 being used to grill meat (allegedly)
Technically Incorrect: In a parody video from Taiwan, the notion of Samsung's overheating phones is taken to an amusing extreme.
Technically Incorrect offers a slightly twisted take on the tech that's taken over our lives.
And there it cooks. Supposedly.
So you have a Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
The phone gets warm occasionally. This, as certain explosive events have intimated, isn't a good thing.
Samsung earlier this month recalled all the phones. As of Thursday, Samsung says about half of the recalled Note 7 phones have been returned in the US.
You might expect, though, that one or two people were tempted to laugh at all this.
And so it is that a wag from Taiwan made a video in which he claims you can grill meat on your warm Note 7.
He wraps the phone in foil, places a piece of thin beef upon it and waits.
The meat appears to cook. He turns it over. It cooks some more.
After just over two minutes, it's ready to eat.
Not for a moment do I imagine that this is anything other than humor. The phone isn't even charging.
There's nothing to suggest at the beginning that it's actually warm. The presenter touches it as if it's a phone of normal temperature.
However, to reinforce the suggestion that it's so very real, he puts on gloves to touch the phone after the meat has cooked.
As he removes the foil, steam rises from the phone. Of course it does.
Please don't try to replicate this at home. No, not even in the kitchen.
It's better to use a grill.
On the other hand, given that phones are becoming ever more utilitarian, perhaps some fine manufacturer will indeed create a phone that doubles as a mobile grill.
Picnics would never be the same again.
