To stay competitive, the SL720 is spilling over with the latest camera feature trends: 28mm wide-angle lens, 3-inch LCD, automatic scene recognition, dual image stabilization, face recognition (it can be programmed to recognize and prioritize faces), H.264 720p HD movie capture with optical zoom, and smile and blink detection.
The SL502 is a pared-down version of the SL720, using a more standard 35mm lens, 2.7-inch LCD, VGA Motion JPEG movie capture, and digital image stabilization. It does however get the scene and face recognition and smile and blink detection.
Both are reasonably priced with the SL720 getting a street price of $229.99 and the SL502 going for just $149.99.
