Strapped for cash and looking for a pay-as-you-go mobile phone that looks good and won't break the bank? Introducing the Samsung C300...

If you're strapped for cash and you need to get your hands on a pay-as-you-go mobile phone but you're not prepared to buy an ugly lump of plastic, then check out the Samsung C300.

This relatively compact slider phone costs a mere £40 and can be picked up from Tesco and Virgin Megastores. For this small sum of cash you don't get much, but you do get the essentials.

The Samsung C300 has dual-band GSM connectivity, a colour screen, polyphonic ringtones, a speakerphone mode, MMS messaging and 2MB of internal memory with space for 200 text messages and 1,000 contacts.

Impressively, Samsung quotes the battery life at 7 hours of talk time and 325 hours on standby, so you won't have to recharge it too often. There's no camera, so look elsewhere if fancy yourself as the next David Bailey, but it's definitely worth checking out if you just want a simple phone. -Andrew Lim
