Salesforce.com on Monday said it will release new customer relationship management (CRM) software for small businesses this week. The software, called Team Edition, aims to help sales people track sales leads and customer information. The application, which is hosted on Salesforce.com's computers, is designed for companies with one to five sales people. The company said the new software is a scaled-down, lower-priced version of its other CRM product lines.
San Francisco-based Salesforce.com sells hosted applications it claims are less expensive and easier to install than those offered by Oracle, PeopleSoft and other makers of CRM software. CRM software is intended to streamline customer service, simplify marketing and sales efforts, and help companies find new customers. The Team Edition software costs $995 a year.
