Software maker Roxio reported lower earnings but higher sales Wednesday for its third fiscal quarter ended Dec. 31. Earnings for the quarter totaled $600,000, or 4 cents a share, compared with $1.2 million, or 7 cents a share, for the same period a year ago. Revenue was tallied at $36.2 million, compared with $27.5 million a year ago.
Roxio's main products are CD- and DVD-burning tools for Windows and Mac PCs. CEO Chris Gorog in a statement credited the release of Microsoft's Windows XP operating system and Roxio's new partnership with the Pressplay digital music service with pushing demand for those products.
