Safari: eBay issues -- constant re-login required

CNET staff

Several readers are reporting an issue where they are repeatedly required to supply login credentials when accessing eBay when browsing with Safari. With other browsers, including Firefox, users are able to access various portions of the eBay site without the need to login repetitively.

MacFixIt reader Jorn Fabricius writes:

"I have noticed that when using Safari in OS10.4.7 to log into my eBay account, I have to log in again and again. Each time I have done a search on eBay I have to log in again. This was not the case in Safari 10.3.9. Firefox is keeping me logged in, so I think there is a bug in Safari Version 2.0.4 (419.3)."

The problem seems to primarily affect non-US eBay sites, including eBay.ca.

This issue can sometimes be resolved by clearing Safari's cache (go to the "Safari" menu and choose "Empty Cache") or going to the Safari's Preferences, selecting "Security," then "Show Cookies" and deleting any entries that mention the eBay domain.
