Of all the kitchen appliances that make their home in the busiest room of the house, there is one that refuses to budge during mealtime. Sure, the refrigerator and the dishwasher aren't going anywhere anytime soon, but the big meal-maker is the oven, and it historically hasn't been very mobile. Unless, of course, you have a mobile phone.

Expanding the capabilities of its wall oven line, GE has introduced True European Convection with Direct Air. Available for 30-inch models, the addition of a top interior vent allows for better circulation of heated air in the oven cavity. The Direct Air convection system consists of a heating element wrapped around a fan at the back of the oven. The addition of the new air-flow vent helps distribute heat for precise, consistent results. But interior results are only half the story.

Whether faced with a distraction or just a great game on the television, the oven is not going to come to you when it's time to change the settings. Luckily, control over temperature, cooking function or other settings is only as far away as a smartphone or tablet. Available for a variety of GE wall ovens (both 27-inch and 30-inch models), GE Appliances Connected App series ranges in price from $2,499 to $3,699. With expanded control both inside and outside the oven, the new upgrades allow users the freedom to roam while not having to worry about being tethered to the kitchen.
