Red Hat expands Web server plan

Linux sales and service company Red Hat has released a new $995 version of its Stronghold software designed for large businesses. Stronghold, a variant of the Apache Web server software used to host Web sites, sends Web pages across the Internet to browsers. The Stronghold Enterprise version has better performance, along with security and management features, Red Hat said in a recent statement. The business-focused product mirrors the Advanced Server strategy Red Hat has taken with its Linux operating system product, which often is paired with Apache. Meanwhile, Red Hat named Patrick Kerrigan vice president of sales for North and South America. Previously he was vice president of sales at e-business software seller Entigo Software.
