It's time to admit that we're not all sophisticated grown-ups with impeccable interior-decorating tastes. Some of us are sci-fi fans attracted to shiny, brightly colored objects that look like something you'd win at a ring-tossing booth at the carnival.
The eye-smacking "Star Wars Original Trilogy Lamp with Illuminated Lightsabers" from the Bradford Exchange is one of those objects.
The lamp hits all the right gaudy notes. It has a cylindrical shade with Luke Skywalker wielding a lightsaber, Han Solo brandishing a gun, Chewbacca looking grumpy, Princess Leia decked out in white and those two droids you've been looking for. Darth Vader looms ominously in the background.
The shade would be enough for a minor celebration, but the true test of tackiness comes in the trio of light-up lightsabers that emerge from the base.
The base is described as hand-sculpted and hand-painted. Bradford Exchange calls it "a one-of-a-kind collectible tribute." It stands at a proud 18 inches (45 centimeters) tall.
The officially licensed lightsaber lamp is available to preorder for $199.95 (about £129, AU$272) and is scheduled to ship in early December. Bradford says the edition is limited to 295 casting days, but doesn't say how many lamps that will produce.
Still, you're not likely to walk into your best buddy's house and see one of these flashy beasts. It should do an admirable job of shedding light onto your "Star Wars" action-figure collection.
