RealNetworks releases RealOne update

RealNetworks on Tuesday released the advanced version of its second edition RealOne Player, which includes improved speeds, performance and CD-copying features. The Seattle, Wash.-based streaming-media technology company updated its RealOne Player v. 2.0 software for playing back audio or video encoded in a variety of formats, including its proprietary technology, Microsoft's Windows Media 9 Series and MPEG-4.

The player, available in a free, basic version or for $29.95 with advanced features, improves on the interface for burning CDs, integrates support for Sonicblue Rio S10 and S30S MP3 players, and speeds up recording times for CDs. The player is the first consumer application to use RealNetworks' Helix technology, a Web server for streaming media introduced this summer.
