Quote of the day: Programmers have to know law, too

In a story from the LinuxWorld Conference and Expo about Sendmail's interest in releasing new technology as open source, the company's Eric Allman talked about how legal constraints have changed the software industry.

"The intellectual property situation is bad and getting worse. To be a programmer, it requires that you understand as much law as you do technology," said Allman, the company's chief science officer and the original Sendmail author.
