Quote of the day: Mercora 'beat Steve Jobs to the iPhone'

CNET News staff

Mercora President and CEO Srivats Sampath claims his wireless music service "beat Steve Jobs to the iPhone...And we've beat Microsoft to the Zune," he said, because the device lets users share music wirelessly.

The service, dubbed M, allows smart-phone users to listen to music that sits on their PCs. Further, M subscribers can share music with each other by allowing them to access music on up to five PCs--with permission, of course.

"The next generation of music players is going to be a phone. It's not going to be a dedicated device," said Sampath, who hopes his company's early jump on the trend will pay off. Read more about Mercora's service here.
