Quote of the day: Game developer blues

Game developers says changes expected industry changes will be good for players but rough on developers with smaller budgets.

As next week's Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, approaches, game developer Warren Spector tells CNET that he has mixed feelings about new video game systems like Xbox and PlayStation. They'll be a player's paradise, Spector says, but they might lead to a more Hollywood-like industry dominated by just a few big companies.

"The quality bar is going to be raised," Spector said, in a story published Thursday. "Someone is going to spend $20 million or $30 million or $40 million, and the rest of us who don't have deep pockets like that are going to have to find some way to compete."
