Sports entertainment site Quokka Sports says it has launched the official Web site for the Men's and Women's NCAA Basketball Championships. The site will provide real-time coverage of the women's and men's tournaments, which total 120 games. The San Francisco-based company said it will provide up-to-the minute images, news, statistics, commentary and perspectives from athletes and coaches, among other features.
Fans can also view video clips from past tournaments, keep track of the games with an updated TV guide, play the historical NCAA basketball trivia, and view profiles of the college teams that qualify in the tournament. Quokka, which began producing Web sites for extreme sporting events, has been extending its coverage with more mainstream events, such as Major League Baseball. But, like many dot-coms, the company has faced financial difficulties. In November, Quokka cut 20 percent of its staff in an effort to reach profitability.
