The Australian streaming video service Quickflix has announced that its app is finally available on the Xbox One console.
Quickflix had been a fixture on the, along with apps for both the PS3 and the PS4.
The Quickflix app will make both SD and HD TV and movies available to Xbox One users. According to Microsoft data, streaming video has proven popular on the Xbox One, with 70 percent of users watching video content on the console.
Quickflix has also seen an uptick in its streaming data -- 20 percent per quarter. The company recently lowered the monthly cost of its streaming-only package.
Microsoft launched the Xbox One with a lot of hype about its entertainment capabilities. In the US, this meant deals with the likes of Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go and more. In Australia however, it's a very different landscape.
In fact, it's the PS4 that's lead the charge, with Quickflix available since last December and more recentlyservice. However, neither device features a full complement of Aussie catch-up TV services, which would have seemed a natural step for an entertainment driven console.
Of course, given the product lifespan expected from the consoles, it's still early days and we'd expect a lot of movement on the front in the coming months.
