QLogic acquires Fibre Channel storage firm
Storage network hardware maker QLogic has acquired Little Mountain Group in a deal to expand its storage products. The cash and stock deal, valued at about $30 million over four years, gives QLogic the technology to embrace a future trend, the merging of special-purpose Fibre Channel-based storage networks with ordinary computer networks, the companies said. Little Mountain works on iSCSI, a protocol that maps data storage commands over ordinary TCP/IP networks.
