Video games publisher THQ on Monday announced third-quarter earnings were up 50 percent from a year ago. For the quarter ended Sept. 30, the company reported net income of $4.8 million, or 12 cents a share, compared with $3.2 million, or 9 cents a share in the same period a year ago. Revenue came in at $97.3 million, compared with $68 million last year.

With the holiday shopping season and a slew of major releases ahead, THQ expects earnings of 95 cents to $1 per share and revenue of $270 million to $275 million for the fourth quarter.
