Thirty-three leading hardware and software companies are participating in the SHAREWARE.COM launch including Adobe, Apple, Borland, Claris, Compaq, IBM, Intel, Lotus, Microsoft, Netscape, Novell, and Silicon Graphics. Says CNET CEO Halsey Minor, "For the first time ever, consumers have one central place where they can download the Internet's most popular files such as Netscape Navigator 2.0, Doom, Netscape plug-ins, Apple's MoviePlayer, Eudora, Heretic, Microsoft's Flight Simulator, and Sim City updates, all from one Web site."
