Procom jumps 50 percent

Procom Technology (Nasdaq: PRCM) shot up 50 percent Wednesday; the only news about the data-supplier was the release of a revised software product.

CNBC reported that George Gilder, who writes an influential technology-focused investment newsletter, has mentioned the company in his latest report.

Procom wasn't available for comment. Neither were the two analysts that cover the company.

Shares in the company, which provides network attached data storage and access appliances, were up 21 3/4 to 64 Wednesday, still below a 52-week high of 89 3/4.

The company announced Wednesday a new software revision for its mid-range and high-end NetFORCE series of network attached storage (NAS) appliances, which include the NetFORCE 1500, 2200 HA and 2500 SFT platforms.

The company's competitors include EMC (NYSE: EMC), NEC (Nasdaq: NIPNY) and StorageTek (NYSE: STK).
