Presidential hopefuls battle for your vote on 'Force Awakens' poster
You've probably never seen Hillary Clinton and Marco Rubio wielding lightsabers before. These spoofs of the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" poster involve some unlikely heroes and villains.
There's a battle awakening. It will pit dark against light. Ancient rivalries will come to the surface. The future of a people hangs in the balance. Thought I was talking about "Star Wars: The Force Awakens"? No, no. I was talking about the race for president here in the US. Actually, when you look at two new posters from water fountain seller Soothing Walls, there are quite a few similarities.
Why a fountain company put out Star Wars posters highlighting the current candidates for America's 2016 presidential election is anyone's guess, but it shared the images exclusively with CNET's Crave blog so now its work is our enjoyment.
There are two different posters, each titled POTUS Wars, using the acronym for President Of The United States. The Democrat version stars Hillary Clinton front and center with a lightsaber-wielding Obama and a blaster-armed Bernie Sanders getting her back. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Vice President Joe Biden also make an appearance. Donald Trump lurks in the background, taking the place of baddie Kylo Ren from the original poster.
Things naturally flip around on the Republican version. Hillary moves to the background to fill Ren's cloak while Marco Rubio lands in the hero's spot occupied by Rey in the original poster. Jeb Bush grabs a blaster, Ben Carson picks up a lightsaber and Ted Cruz and Carly Fiorina stand at the ready.
With "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" debuting around the world this week, these poster spoofs come after months of memes, including this clever reimagining of the movie's promotional poster.
While we'll have to wait until November to see who emerges victorious in the epic battle for America's leadership, at least we don't have to wait much longer to see who wins the ongoing battle for a galaxy far, far away.
