The next generation of Droid will be very fast AndroidGuys

It has been a very busy week for Motorola as the handset maker announced no less than seven Android devices for various carriers. Yet, even afer all the CTIA buzz, there is still at least one super phone hiding up the company's sleeves: the Droid 2 Global.

The handset has been teased for a while and images even surfaced a few weeks back showing a sleek and sophisticated QWERTY design. The big mystery were its specs, but last night they made their way onto Motorola's Web site before quickly disappearing. Thanks to a quick screen capture, though, we now know what the next generation of Droid has under the hood.

Formerly referred to as the Droid 2 World Edition, the Android 2.2-powered Droid 2 Global should have a 1.2GHz CPU and dual-mode support for both Verizon's stateside 3G network and WCDMA/HSDPA/HSUPA networks overseas. Other details include a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and dual LED flash, mobile hot spot capabilities, and up to 40GB of storage space. We assume that 8GB of that space comes from internal memory whereas the other 32GB would come through the microSD memory card. Also, rumors have been circulating that the Droid 2 Global will have a touch display in the ballpark of 3.7 inches or larger.

As pointed out by PhoneScoop, there are some weight and screen resolution discrepancies as compared to the original Droid 2 so it's possible these specs are not finalized. Still, it's hard to imagine the processor, camera, and memory will be very different when formally announced. Given the specs starting to trickle onto Motorola's Web site, I would anticipate the Droid 2 Global to get an official announcement in the coming weeks, arriving in time for holiday shopping.
