The comic series will begin January 11, starting a story that will see Justice League members Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern John Stewart, the Flash and Cyborg come together with all six Power Rangers (including the Green Ranger edition of Tommy).
Boom! Studios currently produces a "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" comic book that features new adventures of the iconic team that take place shortly after Tommy joins the team.
"DC and Boom! Studios teaming up on this crossover is a dream come true for fans of Saban's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and the Justice League," said Hank Kanalz, DC Entertainment's senior vice president of Editorial Strategy and Administration, in Friday's statement.
And how will the Rangers end up rubbing elbows with Wonder Woman? According to DC, Zack the Black Ranger will be the first to end up in the universe after the Power Rangers' Command Center gets breached and their teleporters are damaged. It will then be up to the other five rangers to rescue him, apparently from the clutches of Batman.
The news is the latest in a deluge of Power Rangers announcements over the past few months, which have included the release of a teaser trailer for 2017's "Power Rangers" reboot movie. That film will share similarities with the original series, but otherwise re-imagines the outfits, characters and other elements. Also notable is the film's cast, which includes Elizabeth Banks as the evil Rita Repulsa, Bryan Cranston as the Rangers' mentor Zordon and Bill Hader as some version of Alpha 5 (who on the show is a lovable robotic assistant).
