Sony is sending two new 10.1-megapixel models down the Cyber-shot camera runway, and they're a pair of lookers all right. The Sony Cyber-shot T77 is the thinnest, with the Cyber-shot T700 the brainy one, boasting a giant memory. But let's start with the T77.

The Cyber-shot T77 is thinner than a supermodel on that new nettles-and-cardboard diet you may have read about. But despite being only 15mm at the thickest point, it still packs in image stabilisation, and even more impressively, a Carl Zeiss 4x optical zoom lens. We're not always keen on non-protruding lenses and sliding faceplates -- we have a habit of accidentally sticking our doughy fingers in the way of the lens -- but you can't argue with the T77's thinness.

It's definitely one for the style-obsessed, with a choice of black, silver, pink, green and brown colours. Hopefully pictures will turn out equally beautified, with intelligent scene recognition automatically selecting the appropriate scene mode by analysing what's in the frame.

Smile shutter automatically captures smiling faces, if you're some kind of happiness fascist. More useful is face detection with anti-blink technology, which ensures no-one ruins your picture by daring to moisten their eyeballs at the wrong moment. You have to compensate for amateurs, dahling.

Both cameras will be available in September. Click through for more on the T77 and T700, and to see which feature they're both missing that makes them exciting... -Rich Trenholm

Update: Read our full Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T700 review here.

Get a load of this giant 76mm (3-inch) LCD. And look mum: no buttons! Everything is controlled via touchscreen. Fancy.

The Cyber-shot T700 is slightly less svelte, but it's still not exactly what you'd call a porker. You get a choice of three colours, but this point-and-shoot is only modelling to put itself through college, with a ginormous 4GB internal memory making it one smart snapper.

Sony claims it will store up to 40,000 photos, and also features easy Web upload to social networking or photo-sharing sites.

If you thought the T77's display was big, check the T700's enormous 89mm (3.5-inch) touchscreen LCD. There are cinemas in Wales smaller than that.
