Pharmaceutical firm signs Sciquest deal

GlaxoSmithKline has licensed software from Sciquest to help it more efficiently buy lab supplies, chemicals and equipment, the pharmaceutical company said Thursday. The Sciquest applications, made specifically for research arms of pharmaceutical and biotech companies, will enhance the Ariba purchasing system already in use at GlaxoSmithKline, the companies said. GlaxoSmithKline intends to use the Sciquest software to set up an online catalog of supplies, gather bids from suppliers via the Web, order supplies online, and generate spending reports.
