Computer maker Hewlett-Packard said Sanford Litvack has resigned from its board of directors and been replaced by venture capitalist and former board member Thomas Perkins.

In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, HP said Litvack, an attorney and former general counsel for Walt Disney, resigned Wednesday. He had been on HP's board since 2002.

HP had said in an SEC filing on Jan. 15 that Litvack would retire from the board and not stand for re-election at the company's March annual meeting.

A spokesman for HP could not immediately be reached to comment late Monday.

The company said in the same Feb. 7 filing that Perkins had been re-elected to the board. Perkins had joined the board in 2002 and retired last year. Perkins has been a general partner of the Silicon Valley venture capital firm Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers since 1972.
