PeoplePC has signed a deal with Bertelsmann to provide 11,000 of the media giant's employees with Internet access at home. Germany's Bertelsmann will provide PeoplePC Online at no cost to employees in the United States and Canada. Bertelsmann is the parent company of BMG Entertainment, which includes RCA, Arista and Ariola.
San Francisco-based PeoplePC, which works with companies to provide computers and Net access as a fringe benefit to workers, has signed similar deals with corporations such as Ford Motor, Delta Air Lines, Vivendi Universal and the New York Times Co. PeoplePC's stock faces delisting from Nasdaq.
