Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX77 is a stylish snapper for touchscreen types

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX77 is a stylish compact camera, beneath whose pretty face sits a raft of spiffing features, including 1080p video capture and a 3.5-inch touchscreen.

We like cameras. They let you take photos of stuff. But some of them are big and ugly, and will make people hate you with their bulky enormousness. That's not the case with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX77, however. It's a stylish little number that will slip into your pocket or handbag, but still packs a raft of cool features.

What kind of cool features, you ask? Well how about a 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen on the back? Not enough, you say? Well what if we told you that the touchscreen is rather clever -- you can tap on the screen to focus on different objects, and the FX77 will then track your subject, making it easier than ever to keep a lock on people's faces as they duck and dive to avoid having their picture taken.

You can also take a photo with an additional tap of the touchscreen, which sounds good to us. If you're more familiar with a smart-phone camera than a digital SLR, the FX77 could be a good snapper for getting you into the world of photography.

A natty touchscreen isn't the only trick up the FX77's sleeve. There's also a 24mm wide-angle lens with a 5x optical zoom, and this compact charmer will shoot 1080p video in the AVCHD format.

There's also a 3D mode. It takes 20 photos while you pan with the camera, and then builds up a 3D picture, which you can view on a Panasonic 3D telly, or anything else that's compatible with the MPO image format.

We don't know how much the FX77 will cost, but we hear it'll be available in March, at which point we'll be on hand with a full review, so keep your eyes peeled.
