PalmSource, a subsidiary of handheld maker Palm, is working with software developer to incorporate synchronization technology into VPN (virtual private network) software. The technology will provide businesses with a secure method of keeping corporate data up to date on Palm OS-based mobile devices. The companies made the announcement this week at the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association show in New Orleans, saying that they would develop and co-market the capability for cellular carriers to better target businesses. PalmSource's HotSync technology initially will be integrated into Spontaneous Technology's VPN software.
