Palm kicks off education program

Palm announced on Monday a program for getting more handhelds into classrooms. There are three purchasing levels in the program, called the Education Purchase Program, that gives a school a designated number of free handhelds depending on how many the school initially buys. If a school buys 30 devices, it gets three for free. Purchasing 100 devices gets schools 12 additional free devices and buying 500 gets a school 72 additional handhelds. The Milpitas, Calif.-based handheld maker said the program is open to all U.S. K-12 schools, as well as colleges and universities.
