Palm cuts price of its top model

Palm on Monday shaved $50 off its top-of-the-line Palm VIIx handheld computer, dropping the price to $399. In its most recent conference call, the company had said it planned to more aggressively tout its wireless modem-equipped Palm VIIx once component shortages eased. Palm plans to introduce new handhelds with a postage stamp-sized expansion slot in May, although the wireless version that could replace the Palm VIIx is not expected until the second half of the year.
