Overture signs on MSN Japan

Overture Services said Thursday that it signed a two-year deal to provide paid search results to MSN's Internet network in Japan, its newest partnership overseas. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The Pasadena, Calif.-based company, which auctions placement in search results to advertisers, has been hot in pursuit of foreign distribution partners. It has recently inked deals with Yahoo Japan and AOL Europe, among others.

Under its agreement with MSN, Overture K.K., the company's Japanese unit, will provide commercial search results to the MSN Search Pane through 2003; and in 2004, it will provide listings on the MSN site in Japan. Since it launched late last year, Overture K.K. has signed up 1,000 advertisers in Japan. The deal follows an initial test on MSN Japan that started in December.
