Pac-Man is back on mobile, and this time he's waka waka waka-ing through a new endless runner game called Pac-Man 256 for iOS and Android.

Bandai Namco released Pac-Man 256 on Wednesday for iOS and Android, and after spending some time with the game, I can say that it's a highly addictive mobile throwback to old-school gaming.

As with similar endless runner games like Temple Run and Despicable Me: Minion Rush, players swipe left, right, up and down to play, in this case helping Pac-Man eat dots and avoid ghosts as he navigates through the maze.

The maze itself is never-ending -- hence the term endless runner -- and the Glitch, the supervillain that has been chasing Pac-Man since the very beginning, is hot on your tail as you move throughout the maze. If the Glitch catches you, or if you run into any of the ghosts along the way, you'll die and need to use a credit to begin again.

Pac-Man 256 is a freemium game, so while you have credits that can be used to unlock power-ups and the like, you'll have to have enough credits to play and there are a few in-app purchase options that give you more credits, including one that gives you unlimited credits for $7.99 (about £5, AU $11).

So if you're looking to kill a little time with a modern version of Pac-Man, you can head to the iOS App Store, Google Play or the Amazon Appstore to download Pac-Man 256 to your smartphone or tablet.
