OS X Odds & Ends: Carbon apps in Process Viewer; USB mouse causes wake-from-sleep crash
USB mouse causes wake-from-sleep crash John Dolan writes: "I installed Mac OS X a week ago on my Lombard 333 PowerBook and was happily using it until I attempted to put it to sleep. The 'Book went promptly to sleep...but on attempts to wake it, it refused to come back to life. All keyboard input was disabled, and the only way to regain my 'Book was to do a hard reset via the reset button on the back panel. The problem was completely repeatable. After numerous calls to Apple Tech Support, we figured out that it was my Logitech USB Wheel Mouse that was causing the trouble. If I put the PowerBook to sleep with the Logitech mouse connected, it would go into deep hibernation and not respond to the keyboard, requiring a hard reset every time. When the mouse was disconnected and the PB was put to sleep, it would wake up upon request every time. Apple's recommendation: Don't use the mouse, and wait for the update to OS X."
