Orange San Francisco II confirmed by leaked support page

The cheap-as-chips Orange San Francisco is getting a second coming, according to a now-you-see-me-now-you-don't support page on the Orange UK website.

The accidental leak, as reported by So Mobile, revealed the Orange San Francisco 2 will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread and sport an 800MHz ARMII processor.

It'll feature the same 3.5-inch, 480x800-pixel resolution touchscreen as its predecessor, but the inclusion of Android Gingerbread means it will come with a healthy bunch of built-in Orange apps: Music Store, App Store, Games and Wednesdays; the latter gives you two for one cinema tickets. There'll also be the usual Google bells and whistles on board, plus apparently both BlackBerry Maps and Ovi Maps.

A 5-megapixel camera, 512MB of built-in storage (plus a microSD card slot allowing you to expand that by up to 32GB), HSDPA and Wi-Fi round off the feature list of the ZTE-built phone.

Given the leak, we expect Orange to confirm the existence of the San Francisco 2 via official channels very soon -- and hopefully we'll get a price and release date then.

We reviewed the original San Francisco back in November 2010 and were mightily impressed by its wallet-friendly price tag and capacitive touchscreen, and we'd expect its successor to be similarly affordable. We weren't quite so enamoured with the Orange apps and eyeball-smackingly hideous branding, however, and these look set to remain.
