Two days after researchers at iDefense, a security vendor, found a serious buffer overflow error within the Opera 9.01 browser, Opera has released a security update, Opera 9.02. The vulnerability, detailed in this alert from security vendor Secunia, results from a boundary error when processing overly long URLs. Successful exploitation could lead to remote code execution on vulnerable systems. You can download version 9.02 from CNET Download.com or click the Help toolbar option, then click Check For Updates within the drop-down menu to update a currently running version of the browser.
