Online learning company picks Apple exec

Apple executive Cheryl Vedoe is leaving the Mac maker to become chief executive of online courseware maker Apex Learning. Vedoe had Apple's vice president of education marketing until June, when she was over to the company's PowerSchool subsidiary, where she served as president.

Vedoe is slated to start at Bellevue, Wash.-based Apex on Sept. 23. Apex develops online classes and test preparation software for high-school students.
