Video-compression provider On2 Technologies has unveiled its first feature-length film encoded and streamed in VP5, a codec used to compress large video files. The New York-based company is offering "To Kill A Lawyer," a low-budget film released last year, in the format. On2 said people can choose to view the film at two speeds: 400kbps to 600kbps, or 700kbps to 1mbps.
On2 saysreleased in February, improves by up to 50 percent on the quality and efficiency of its VP4 technology. The company also announced the release of its TrueCast 7.2 video server and player software.
