Microsoft launched a new add-on for its Office productivity package on Monday, targeting corporate compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act accounting rules. The new Office Solution Accelerator for Sarbanes-Oxley is part of a series of "accelerator" releases surrounding the latest version of Office. The series includes tools and guidelines for customers and partners to create Office enhancements aimed at specific business tasks.

Microsoft said in a statement that it had more than 30 partners working on Office-based Sarbanes-Oxley products. The new accelerator uses several applications included in the Office System family of applications, including SharePoint collaboration tools and the InfoPath electronic forms product.
