Odds and Ends: Problems burning to external CD-R(W) drives under Panther? Knowledge Base updates
Problems burning to external CD burners under Panther? MacFixIt reader Michael Parsons notes that he's received reports from two users he supports regarding issues with burning CDs on external FireWire CD-RW drives, and points out that the issues only began after those users upgraded to Mac OS X 10.3:
"Both of the reports I've received concern external CD-R/RW drives with the users attempting to burn data and audio content with the Finder, Toast and iTunes. In most instances they get errors relating to hardware or media failure. Running tests after booting into OS 9 however show that both the media and the drives work fine. Only after upgrading to OS 10.3 did the errors start to appear."
Michael also notes an Apple Discussions forum thread covering similar issues.
